Meray Dard Ko Jo Zuban Milay – Last Episode

Posted by hina On November - 1 - 2012 12 COMMENTS

So, while Hurricane Sandy was doing her thing outside, I was hoping that my power would stay on, aur light na chali jai, but I guess things aren't exactly ever supposed to work out for me how I want them to, and my electricity went out. I was freaking out because I had just started to watch the last episode of MDKJZM and that is when everything started to screw up. I still had to put up a review for you all to read, and I didn't get to because I had no power.

So why am I telling you this? I feel like MDKJZM's bad luck has rubbed off on me, :D. See, ever since Amna got married to Urooj, every episode has gone downhill, tragedy after tragedy. I guess the last episode was pretty unfortunate as well because the electricity went out literally AS SOON as I started the episode. You guys be the judge.

Anyhow, my thoughts on the last episode are mixed. And that's not exactly a good thing, nor is it a bad thing either. See, I'm glad, SERIOUSLY GLAD, that Amna didn't get married to Azam/Salaar/weirdcreepyguy and that Arifa had saved her life. However, I'm not exactly cool with the part where Amna just visits Zakiyah chachi every now and then, and it has to get really awkward for Amna and Urooj because in my hopeful little mind, they still have feelings for each other. They're both hurt, lonely, and they both miss each other too and I would have liked to see them get back together towards the end so that there would be a full closure for them two. But I guess not :(.

Arifa was AMAZING. This girl went through so much, and right when she was starting to live again, she meets her bad past in the face. Literally. And instead of letting Azam/Salaar/weirdcreepyguy get to her again and bring her down, she slapped him and beat him up. It was wonderful because that was exactly what he deserved. I mean, how are you gonna mess up a girl's life and then go after her sister? Shame on you. Wonderfully done Arifa!!

I was reading Fatima's review on the last episode, and it turns out, that I was thinking the same thing she was talking about when it came to how insensitively Urooj's disability was handled. I'm not going to elaborate more because her review speakes my thoughts so accurately, so here's the link to her review: http://www.dramasonline.com/review-mere-dard-ko-jo-zuban-miley-last-episode/. Enjoy! :)

Why did I continue watching this show until the last episode? I have to say, it was mostly because of the performances of the actors, the OST was perfect, and I really wanted to see how they would go ahead with developing Urooj and Amna's relationship. That's partially why I really didn't like how they got divorced because to me, they were the best part of the show. But guess not....Anyhow, the actors were wonderful, especially Shehrayar Munawar! Without any words, he conveyed his emotions through his facial expressions and hand gestures perfectly! Also, the other cast members were fantastic as well: Sarwat Gillani, Alishba Yousuf, Bushra Ansari, Mohib Mirza, etc....Great job guys! Personally, though, I think Bushra Ansari should act instead of write, because acting just suits her better....and I'm not a person that likes tragedies to be honest

That's basically all I have to say....Let me know what you thought of the last episode!

Meray Dard Ko Jo Zuban Mile – Episode 18

Posted by hina On October - 24 - 2012 8 COMMENTS

I am extremely disappointed in today's episode of MDKJZM. I had initially liked the story of MDKJZM, actually no - I loved it. Through all the tragedies, twists, and deaths, I still stayed true to it. However, my interest has rapidly dropped in these previous two episodes.

Zakiyah's decision to wed Amna to Azam was very noble, but to be honest, Amna should have prioritized her husband and her son over what Zakiyah decided for her. I know Amna tried to decline the proposal, but she should've stayed firm on her decision to remain with Urooj. Her feelings are obviously very important, and I understand that, but I still believe her decision to get married to Azam was wrong. I was more looking forward in the beginning to see how Urooj and Amna's relationship would develop, but seems like Bushra Ansari does not want for that to happen. Sadly, I don't think we're going to see Urooj find closure in the entire drama.

When it comes to MDKJZM, I still keep my hopes up, regardless of what happens. I'm HOPING that Arifa points out Salaar and he who basically destroyed her life in front of everyone. In my head, this is how it should go:

-Arifa and Junaid enter the room.

-Camera pans on Arifa's face and the sound effects make the scene seem all intense.

-Arifa reveals who the man really is, causing Amna to look grief-stricken.

-Cue everyone's reactions and Amna running out of the room.

-It is revealed that Salaar/Azam/whatever his name is really hasn't changed, and is still the sick man who just wanted to take advantage of Amna.

-Amna runs to Urooj and he forgives her, and they obviously live happily ever after with Naami :D

OBVIOUSLY, this is an over exaggeration, but I would like something to happen along those lines. However, unlike previous times, I'm not keeping my hopes up too high this time.

I just want to take this time to talk about how perfect the performances of the actors are - especially Urooj's! The scene where Zakiya talks about Amna and Azam and Urooj's reaction to that was done amazingly. He didn't say anything, but he portrayed what he wanted through just his expressions, and that was done wonderfully!

I'm thinking next week is going to be the last episode, so let's see how it all goes down. Will next week episode live up to everyone's expectations is really the main question as of now. Looking forward, kind of, to next week! :)

Meray Dard Ko Jo Zuban Mile – Episode 15

Posted by hina On October - 4 - 2012 1 COMMENT

To be completely straightforward right now, this episode was literally a drag. I mean, they just kept on repeating the Amna-Azim track and messing with Amna-Urooj's relationship. On top of that, once Arifa is trying to get back to being her old self again, they show Junaid resorting to methods, that are just not that great to be honest. There wasn't much 'happening' so this is going to be a short review. Regardless, here are my thoughts on the episode:

I feel like so many dramas on air in this season are simply dragging. MDKJZM is turning out to be one of them. I completely understand that you need time to show a development in a relationship, such as Amna and Azim's (That feels so weird to say!), but seriously dragging it out to 42 minutes? Not fun. I did forward today near the end of the episode mostly because it was all just talking to be honest. Also, it's ridiculous that once Arifa is getting normal again, Junaid chooses to become a totally different person which is leading to a not-so-happy story.

Why? Why after so many years of understanding and once Arifa is becoming human again, Junaid decides to leave her now? I don't understand how after so many years of patience, could one month hurt? The way that Junaid's character is being portrayed really saddens me because this may just be so many people in our society today. Resorting to drugs, nasha, and then giving up on life basically summarizes Junaid's role in today's episode. I wish he'd just have accepted Arifa and gone to live their happily ever after with her. But obviously, MDKJZM isn't too fond of happy endings ;).

On the other hand, it was such a relief to actually see Arifa smile again! Shukar hai  she decided enough is enough and she needs to get her act together. Loved her today!

Meanwhile, Amna and Urooj's relationship has diffused in this time frame. Amna is more focused on "taking care" of everyone but her. She has to take care of Urooj, Inam, Zakiya, Junaid, Arifa, and the office, etc. To be frank, I don't think Amna is a bad character just because she is fascinated by Azim, or so it seems. Obviously, when your purpose in life seems to be taking care of people all the time, and a person comes to help you out, you're going to intrigued by him. However, this aspect of the story annoyed me. Why couldn't they leave Amna and Urooj alone and keep their relationship the way it really was previously? I miss them and how they used to be with one another so long ago and how they would talk to each other about everything. I love Amna, but hopefully she finds out soon about Azim's reality.

That's about all there was today. There wasn't much to talk about which is why this review is quite short. Also, feeling a bit sick but still decided to watch the episode. Wasn't up to my expectations really. Still, hoping for the best for MDKJZM and that it doesn't turn me off. It needs to be wrapped up and given a happy ending soon in my opinion. Regardless, leave your thoughts in the comments! :)

Meray Dard Ko Jo Zuban Miley – Episode 14

Posted by hina On September - 26 - 2012 4 COMMENTS

Can one action really destroy another's life completely to the point where they can't live peacefully for the rest of their lives? Forwarding 7 years ahead, life for Arifa seems to be much, much more different than it was before. As Junaid's patience has just about disappeared after Amna and Arifa's father's death, Shameem continues to try to fend for Arifa, which later on results in a not-so-good-end.

After the incident that took place 7 years ago, Arifa seemed well convinced that nothing could bring her back to her old life again. Then came her father's death, with which she doesn't seem like she coped too well. The last straw being her daughter's death, for which in Junaid's eyes, she is solely responsible for leads to her having horrible suicidal thoughts. To be honest, you can't really blame her. Arifa makes me feel....impatient. I want her to go back to how she was before and kind of cope with what happened and begin a new life with Junaid, but at the same time, I know she can't truly forget everything and it wasn't her fault at all. Junaid seems to be fed up at this point, and you can't blame his actions either. No matter how much he vowed to change her, he knows his attempts have failed, and hey, why not just give up? The only problem with that is that it degrades Arifa even more. She acknowledges that whatever happened with Hira (her daughter) was her fault, but it doesn't seem to be enough for Junaid, and he has decided to separate himself from her emotionally. Basically, he's given up.

On the other hand, the sick man who ruined Arifa's life for his own entertainment is now playing another game with Amna. All I could think of during his conversations with his friend, mother, and Amna was how low and sick this person was. At one point, he's talking about how Allah has 'blessed' him with so many luxuries, and on the other, he hasn't given up on doing what he's been doing before. Just can't stand him! Seems like he's after Amna now. But, Amna seems like a smart and knowledgeable girl who knows what she's doing so hopefully she puts him in his place. (That's me hoping that another tragedy doesn't come through....;) )

Finally, Amna has matured so much. Where she was a girl who went through so much, she learns to move on and live with whatever she's got. This is what I like most about her. My motto in life is basically that life goes on. The world is going to keep moving regardless of whether or not your problems are solved, and similarly, Amna looks like she's the type of girl who lives in the present. As bad as her past may be, she knows that she can appreciate what has been given to her, and work with that. That's what really differentiates Amna and Arifa. As bad as things get, Amna moves on, whereas Arifa is kind of still stuck in the moment.

Overall, enjoyed the episode. I love the characters and how their personalities are shining through the wonderful actors playing their roles! It's been amazingly done by everyone! Even though Urooj had only one scene in the entire episode, his expressions were perfect and I love the way that Amna and Urooj still seem the same way they were before the accident that happened. It was refreshing to see!

This episode belonged to Junaid and Arifa, and the little glimpses of all the other characters were fantastic! Judging from the preview, Arifa might just be moving on which is an event I'm eager to watch. Hopefully, the drama wraps up now and doesn't drag. I know how other people are saying it feels like a drag, but personally, I feel that the story, spans of time, and everything else have been moving along pretty nicely. That's all I have to say for today's episode. Let me know what you guys thought by leaving your comments below! :)

Meray Dard Ko Jo Zuban Milay – Episode 13

Posted by hina On September - 19 - 2012 6 COMMENTS

I was so apprehensive on watching today's episode because of the whole discussion last week about whether or not Urooj will die on the forum and it made me so nervous, BUT I shall not spoil it for all of you that have not yet watched the episode. Anyhow, I felt as if though today's episode was pretty slow, but only because they had to capture the entire scene of the tragedy and show the consequences which might have slowed it down a bit. As tragedies come and go, happiness comes up often too. They say that when one door closes, another one opens. It's the same with MDKJZM to be honest. I feel like people criticize the story for being too tragic, and I DEFINITELY agree with that, but they also show some amazing scenes that leave you going "Awwww....". And frankly, calamities are part of reality. They happen so often and these types of dramas are kind of there to show us that everything in life is really unexpected, and not knowing the future can affect us positively and negatively.

Arifa is expecting, and she doesn't seem too happy about it. It's sad that something that horrible is still haunting her after all this time. Junaid's unconditional love, Ahmed Ali's hopes, Shameem's pleas, nothing is getting to Arifa, and she remains lost in her thoughts of the past and how horribly it has affected her. Let's hope something changes her life for the better and actually makes her into the old, fun but mature Arifa she used to be. Missing that so badly!

Amna and Urooj on the other hand - where to begin? Firstly, they leave on their trip to Bangkok for his art festival, which is such a happy moment, especially when they're saying goodbye to Zakiya. That scene literally was just so heartfelt and exhilarating. But, afterwards ASDFGHJKL;. WHY. Just why? I don't want to spoil though, but anyways, it was really sad :(. However, glad to see the aftermath of it, even though it wasn't the best thing ever.

I will say this for Zakiya though, she is a really strong woman, and I just don't understand where all this courage comes from. She's been so vulnerable, yet remains strong and always tries to be positive. Though she may have her "breaking down" moments here and there, she still stays standing. Her courage is very admiring!

In conclusion, I loved loved loved the final scene of this episode! That really is what you need at the end of the day, your family's support - and no matter what, they have to support you. After all they are your family and they feel for you. MDKJZM leaves with a fantastic episode every week and gives me a chance to look forward to Tuesdays! Waiting for yet another turning point/twist to come which somehow just never seem to end. Though it may be a bit too repetitive at times, the stirring scenes make it worthwhile to watch the episode, and the chemistry between everyone is just wonderful! Everyone has done an amazing job and looking forward to next week! Signing off now, but will leave you all with this - Whose grave do you guys think is Junaid making duaa at in the preview?

Meray Dard Ko Jo Zuban Miley – Episode 12

Posted by hina On September - 12 - 2012 15 COMMENTS

Slowly, but steadily, the story of MDKJZM seems to be moving forward at a nice pace. Every time lapse seems to be normal paces and things are kind of patching up. Today's episode gave us so much more and so much to look forward to as well!

Finally, Arifa is on the way to a possible happily ever after. To be quite honest, she's been through alot, and she kind of deserves it. However, I just wish she'd stop her insecurities from getting the best of her. It's quite saddening to see a lively girl like her be reduced to this kind of personality. She keeps thinking Junaid is simply marrying her because "Woh rahm kar raha hai" on her. I guess after the trauma that she has gone through, it's kind of hard not to think that it wouldn't affect her in this way. She is also insecure about the way society sees her, and I can't blame her. When her own mother said all that to her in the previous episode, how is she going to react? I like how we see two sides with Ahmed Ali and Shameem. Ahmed Ali is supporting her through all this, whereas Shameem looks at her daughter as a 'napaak aurat'. How do you manage do that to your own child? This is why I feel for Arifa in the way that I do.

Amna and Urooj always put a smile on my face! Today as well, they showed how well they had bonded not only as husband and wife, but also as mother and father of Naami (or Inaam). However, Urooj is also getting a bit paranoid that his son doesn't seem to respond to much, so is he born deaf as well? Amna assures him that he's perfectly fine and that he should be thankful that they have a baby as a blessing in disguise. For some reason though, I feel like they might be foreshadowing something here, hmmmm.......

I loved today's episode mostly because even though Arifa reacted a bit by setting her books on fire, she seems to be getting better and that makes me happy!  The scene with her father persuading her to marry Junaid was so heartbreaking! The team has done wonderfully and I feel like this drama deserves more than it's getting! The cast, editing, directing, is superb! On top of everything, you just can't miss Sarwat and Shehryar's scenes because they're just that amazing! Loving it! :)

I hate how everytime things seem to be falling in place and patching up, a catastrophe always has to come through! Will Amna and Urooj be able to pull through the upcoming one? So excited but apprehensive about the next episode! What do you guys think will happen to Amna and Urooj?

Meray Dard Ko Jo Zuban Milay – Episodes 7-10

Posted by Drama Buff On August - 26 - 2012 13 COMMENTS

Sanity: Okay, Emotion, I am all ears. You have to tell me today what it is exactly that you ever liked about this drama serial.

Emotion: I have liked everything from the start. It was a breathe of fresh air, with a different story, new on-screen couples, and a non-pitti-hui cast.

Sanity: So what's your take on the previous four episodes?

Emotion: I can only say: WOW. Events have moved at a rapid pace. You just cannot miss a second of this serial. Neelam's death, Kamran's confession, Amna and Urooj's marriage, Zakiya's business troubles, and finally yesterday, Arfa's tragedy.

Sanity: Well, yes, if you are talking about four episodes as a whole, it does seem that a lot has taken place. But somehow, the progression of the story is a little soap-like, if you know what I mean.

Emotion: I do know what you mean, but somehow, it is really enjoyable. The entire cast has done such a great job that you can just sit back and enjoy the portrayal of all the different emotions.

Sanity: Yeah, the trouble is, you sometimes need to close your mind while watching.

Emotion: And with which other drama serial do you NOT need to close your mind?

Sanity: Oh boy, you sure are emotional about this serial.

Emotion: Well, like I said, it is all about emotions - and the issues.

Sanity: I agree with you there. In the past few episodes, even I could see what Bushra Ansari was trying to highlight through her script - hostel life, being careful in choosing friends, being vigilant when hanging out with the hostel crowd, unsafe abortions, and above all, parenting.

Emotion: Honestly, this drama serial is excellent material for any parenting workshop.

Sanity: Yes, there is so much to compare and contrast. If you just take the role of a father, you can analyze Abdur-Rahman, Ahmed Ali, Kamran, Parvaiz and Samreen's father. All dads and all with a different parenting approach to their sons and daughters.

Emotion: Even mothers - Shameem and Zakiya.

Sanity: True! But there are some eyebrow raisers in this serial as a whole, in case you haven't noticed.

Emotion: I just watch and enjoy...but for my information, what are those eyebrow raisers.

Sanity: Didn't you think it weird that Zakiya just forgave Kamran, no questions asked? And Kamran was suddenly reformed after Neelam's death? I agree that the death of a child shakes you to the core and transforms your life, but somehow, Kamran's confession and for Zakiya to not pursue the case and even Razia to just go along with it, made this entire track a little hard to swallow.

Emotion: Well, if you think about it, maybe Zakiya just wanted her sister to have a peaceful life with her reformed husband? We have seen in the past that Razia is her weak point.

Sanity: Yes, but still...

Emotion: What else?

Sanity: A lot in this drama serial borders on the extreme. The guy barely knew Arfa - why was he so desperate, to the extent that he crossed all the limits? And did he just carry around shady pills in his pocket, or was the whole thing planned with Samreen? Personally, I found this too dramatic and unreal.

Emotion: It was still heart-wrenching to watch - along with the family's reaction, especially Junaid.

Sanity: Junaid is going to be the Faisal of Mora Piya - "forget it ever happened and move on". We've all been there...

Emotion: Yeah, true. We are seeing a "Mora Piya" in every other drama serial these days, for some reason.

Sanity: Exactly.

Emotion: But you have to go "awww" at Urooj and Amna.

Sanity: They are definitely one cute couple - you have to hand it to them. Sarwat and Shehryar have done a really good job with their roles. But I just hope the serial won't drag now. From the OST, it does seem there is plenty of action to come.

Emotion: Yeah, but it's time slot has been changed.

Sanity: I am not very surprised. It seems the ratings it got were not as good as even Durre-Shehwar's. I blame it on the overly long scenes and too much talking. Seriously, the scenes of Ahmed Ali and Shamim Ara's conversations could have used some trimming.

Emotion: But there is a lot of food for thought there...

Sanity: Even yesterday, the scene at the apartment took up a whopping 10 minutes. That's a LOT.

Emotion: Well, since it is not getting the right ratings, I guess it was only wise for the channel to change its time slot.

Sanity: I will be following it, though. The story may have loopholes but I am quite intrigued to find out how the story progresses.

Emotion: I am, too!

Meray Dard Ko Jo Zuban Milay – Episode 6

Posted by Drama Buff On July - 28 - 2012 13 COMMENTS

After another amazing episode, I can only say: WOW! This drama serial is definitely providing a roller-coaster ride of emotions to the viewers! It is a perfect blend of a variety of real-life situations which compel you to stay put from the beginning to the very end, and not forward even one scene - lest you miss any important bit of information related to the past or the present. With flawless direction and exceptional story-telling, writer Bushra Ansari and director Adnan Ahmed once again deserve a huge round of applause for bringing life to this episode in particular, and ensuring a smooth narrative through the many tracks of the serial.

Today's episode mainly focused on Neelam, and the mess she has made out of her life. In stark contrast to other drama serials, where we never really find out why characters behave in a certain manner, we have been given sufficient insight into the kind of upbringing Neelam has had - with a docile mother who has never stood for her own self and a father who is giving her all the wrong life lessons. Kamran did, however, get the shock of his life when he found out just how far his daughter has crossed the limits. This is another part of the drama serial that I am enjoying - we don't have to wait till the very last episode to see nature's vengeance on those who have wronged others for the past 24 or so episodes.

Neelam's dark and gloomy scenes with Sheeraz, her boyfriend, were spaced out with very refreshing and light scenes involving Junaid/Arfa conversations and Amna's birthday. The highlight of the episode has to be where Urooj gets his photographs developed and sends them to Amna - the sms exchange following that was probably the cutest scene I have seen in a while. Seriously, even though the background music was a little too loud to actually make out what was being said, the expressions of both Sarwat Gillani and Sheheryar Munawer were enough treat to enjoy the overall effect. It's amazing how the use of expressions and the apt background score has ensured excellent chemistry between both the lead couples in this serial.

While Zakiya struggled balancing her role as a sister, an aunt, and a businesswoman, the Omung lassi guy enlisted the help of Samreen to "friendship" Arfa. Let's see what transpires as a result. For now, we know Samreen has a background, too! We also discover Ahmed Ali's flexible behaviour with his daughters is mainly due to the strict upbringing he had from his own parents. Again, all this is plenty of food for thought - issues running in the background parallel to the story which make you rethink hostel life, parenting issues, domestic violence, and so much more. Thumbs up to the entire team! I am looking forward to next week already! It seems Kamran has already figured out a way to use the situation with Neelam to his advantage!

Meray Dard Ko Jo Zuban Milay – Episodes 4 and 5

Posted by Drama Buff On July - 22 - 2012 5 COMMENTS

I am finally beginning to understand why Hum TV replaced Durre-Shehwar with this drama serial rather than with Shehr-e-Zaat (which I had initially deemed to be its natural successor). Meray Dard Ko Jo Zuban Milay is gradually evolving into a masterpiece on similar lines as the two serials before it in the same time slot. With a top-notch script, commendable direction, and excellent acting, MDKJZM is characterized by its subtle yet sensitive portrayal of varied issues. Many dialogues make you want to hit the pause button, and then rewind and hear them again. Watching two episodes back-to-back was an experience that amply illustrated the brisk pace of the story, along with the suspense factor that is unwinding in the background.

Abdur-Rahman's death has cast a huge cloud of gloom over the lives of Zakiya and Urooj - a cloud that is slowly beginning to engulf the household of Ahmed Ali as well. While Zakiya is struggling to regain some control over her household and business affairs, a consistent attempt is being made to thwart her efforts. Kamran, Pervaiz and Haris apparently think the ground is clear for them to make their well-thought-out moves. I must say I find my blood pressure rising every time I see a scene involving Kamran, whether he is bullying his wife or he is phoning up his sister-in-law in the wee hours of the night, uttering heavily loaded, vague intonations that are frankly sounding like a broken record. Zakiya personifies female intuition at its best; she can see through quite a bit of Kamran and is more inclined to blindly trust Ahmed Ali, though both are verbally offering their I-am-there-for-you support at all times. Methinks there is some history between Kamran, Zakiya AND Razia, which is yet to unfold.

For now, things are unravelling mainly in Ahmed Ali's household. While spending some time with Zakiya without the rest of her family, we got a glimpse into the more emotional, serious side of Amna, who offered to look through the company's accounts and make her notes. She tried also to spend some time with a very anguished Urooj, who was first told his (deceased) father is in Dubai, and then had the reality broken out to him very crudely by Haris. Amna and Urooj, as always, only made me smile! Arfa, in the meanwhile, has gotten admission in a university in Karachi, and is now living in a hostel. Something tells me her room-mate, Samreen, and the Omung lassi guy who is trying to make "friendship" with her are preludes to the more serious troubles waiting for her. I just don't understand why she did not take up Junaid's offer to marry early, resulting in both of them moving to Karachi. It was a more sensible option - but then, how would the story move ahead?

With tensions surfacing between Junaid and Zakiya, and Kamran trying to persuade his daughter to marry Urooj (for the "greater good"), there is plenty happening. The previous two episodes have ensured that you stay hooked from the start to the end. The scenes are short (though choppy at some places), the chemistry between all the characters maintains its awesomeness, and the outdoorsy look and feel of the serial only highlights the excellent direction and camera work. It is obvious that the entire team has put a lot of effort and it is definitely evident in all the scenes.

I am only sorry to note the Facebook pages of this serial; almost none of them are highlighting any of the deeper issues portrayed here or inviting the audience to put forward their opinion on any thing that merits a healthy discussion, for example, did Ahmed Ali did the right thing by allowing Amna to stay alone in Karachi in a recently-mugged house? Was Arfa right when she refused the Junaid's offer to marry early, saying her father needed him more in Hyderabad? There are also many lighter moments, for example, Samreen said Arfa talks only about her family in the hostel - do you do that when you are away from them? Amna said to Junaid that just because she does not have a cell phone, doesn't mean she has no idea how to use one - does it apply universally? There were only a few examples from the previous two episodes.

Overall, I am definitely looking forward to how the story progresses, and what becomes of the characters in Karachi and Hyderabad. Kudos to Adnan Ahmed, Bushra Ansari and co. for such an engaging serial!

Meray Dard Ko Jo Zuban Milay – Episode 3

I will be honest. I was not really enthusiastic about watching the third episode of MDKJZM after seeing the preview last week - for the sheer personal and very painful reason that the visuals (at least in the promo) brought back the traumatic memories that I have been trying to erase from my grey matter for the past three and a half years. It's the horror and fear of waking up and seeing three masked men in your bedroom, brandishing a gun at you and your spouse, demanding to know where you have "hidden" your jewellery and why it is so less, going through all your possessions and taking away every last asset you own. Somehow, I was sure Zakia and her family will be going through exactly that - with the added heroics of Urooj - and I felt I'd rather skip the whole thing. But come Saturday and I found myself in front of the laptop at 8:00 pm, loading Hum TV's Live TV only to get a "no signal" in return. Sigh!

Anyway, so when I finally got around to watching it later, I was extremely relieved to note that the episode at least started on a cheerful note - the interaction of the two families, which is always so amazingly done that it brings a smile to your face. This time, it was the parting wave to Amna to Urooj, and the latter's expressions that made me go all "awwwwww". As I noted in my previous review, Amna and Urooj share an awesome chemistry, and I just cannot wait to see more of their scenes in the subsequent episodes.

Kamran, the evil brother-in-law of Zakiya, is apparently more evil than we would like to believe. For some reason, his blacker than black character is not really making sense - whenever characters such as these are shown, I always wonder they are the way they are. I think in this case, he is simply jealous of Abdur-Rehman and Zakiya's success (though really, he seems to have as big a house and as lavish a lifestyle!). The way Kamran sneaked into Zakiya's room and humiliated his wife had me gritting my teeth and wondering when we would see less of Kamran and more of Amna/Urooj and Junaid/Arifa.

The not-so-awaited scene came all too soon, and while I tried to forward most of it, I did raise my eyebrows at least at two points. First and foremost, it is highly unusual for such "intruders" to leave their faces uncovered. They usually cover them so as to remain unidentifiable. Secondly, and most importantly, they never ask for cheques as they can easily be traced.

Apart from that and overall, it was again an amazing episode! Looking forward to next week already!
