Dillagi Episode 2 Review

Sadaf . 5

Last week’s episode of Dil Lagi set the tone for a very dramatic, very filmi kind of story and after watching this week’s episode It is clear that is going to be the USP of this serial. This isn’t a contemplative serial, very much like its main leads this serial is action packed. So far it’s working because the story and characters are consistent and thanks to director Nadeem Baig’s firm hand, no one has been allowed to overact, which can be a huge temptation in a storyline like this.

Last week Mohid met Anmol and now he is shadowing her in what is pretty much stalker mode. Not a wise move with a girl like Anmol, who is predictably unimpressed with his romantic dialogues and understandably views him in an even worse light than before. Mohid is a single minded man who has decided Anmol is the only match for him and he isn’t the sort to be easily put off. . He sends his mother and sister to Anmol’s house only to learn it is too late, Anmol’s mother has already accepted a rishta. When Mohid says “main sahi kaam ghalat tareekey sey bhi karleyta hoon “,I take him at his word . All of his attempts at gaining Anmol’s attention are disastrous, even giving her family the deeds to their house back don’t bring him into Anmol’s good books because of his bull in a china shop attitude. Instead of acting like Anmol’s stalker, perhaps winning her mother’s confidence with respect and humility might have worked better.

I once had to write an essay on the reasons Emma didn’t understand why Mr. Knightly and Emma Wodehouse did not recognize their feelings for each other for so long and my understanding was that in that case familiarity had made them forget that there are rules to courtship. There are steps to building affection. Anmol’s family knows just as little about Anmol’s perspective rishta, Sohail, as they do about Mohid .The problem with Mohid is that because he has fallen in love he expects Anmol, who doesn’t know him from Adam, to immediately fall in line with his wishes.

I know I should hate Mohid for being so overbearing but his interactions with the adorable Dastagir are so cute and utterly catastrophic, that I can’t help liking him. My favourite scenes this week were outside the library, where Mohid is trying to win over Anmol but makes a complete hash out of everything with Dastagir’s help. Humayoon Saeed and Imran Ashraf were totally brilliant but the, their on screen chemistry and comic timing is perfect. I loved the Nihari wallah scene too. Only Dastagir could conflate the Mohid’s love sick beychayni as an overdose of Nihari. Humayoon’s deadpan delivery and two minute journey from macho man in a big black car to deflated man slapping his friend on the road were the best. I am not normally a fan of Imran Ashraf but this script has really brought out the best in him. I loved Aunn and Manzar in AunnZara and I think this match up shows just as much promise.

I was amazed that Anmol’s mother was so ready to give her daughter away that she accepted the rishta we saw in last week’s episode. Perhaps it was the pressure of Kifayat Ali trying to take their house but it still seemed sudden. Sohail’s family seemed like nice people but when Mohid interviews Sohail it becomes clear that this really wasn’t that great a choice. I am always wary of people who want to do quick Nikaah’s and engagements, these are big commitments and considered decisions are always better. Anmol may have thought honesty was the best policy when she explained her own situation to Suhail’s family but she did open herself up to being taken advantage off without first finding out the other side.

Again Mohid did himself no favours by barging in on Anmol’s rishta. No normal woman could possibly accept such behavior. Mehwish Hayat was excellent again, and gave a controlled performance as Anmol.I am definitely on Anmol’s side , apart from the obvious caution any sensible girl would have ,the way Mohid keeps taking over every situation must be particularly galling to a girl who is used to running her own life and making her own decisions. Any of the usual Bholi larkiyan we see on screen would have been bowled over by now, but not the practical Anmol. Mohid’s sister, however does seem to be a typical bholi larki. She seems to live a very protected life with her brother and mother watching over her but she has found a boyfriend, whom she is berating for not having the guts to ask for her hand.

Overall this is an even better episode than last week, with every detail worked out in both story and translation to screen.  I could just sit back and relax, because the writer, director and actors were all on the same page. Excellent direction from Nadeem Baig is keeping this story going at a fast pace so we don’t mind some of the over the top situations and great performances from the entire cast. Again my complaint is with the amount of slapping, yes it was funny but please, anymore and it will ruin what is shaping up to be a great serial.

Anmol never failed to amuse me I must say she is the real women with strong morale and ethics she doesn’t give a damn to a person who had fallen head over heels for her he can do anything for her but she is simply not attracted towards him because he loves her because he is very rich and influential because he is charming or handsome she will only consider him if he is worthy of it if he is a gud person who will able to win her heart take a bow what a characrer it’s easy to understand why he fall in love with her at first sight ik sher ke saath ek sherni hee jachti hai aur vaise bhi anmol jaisi ladki ko jhelna sirf mohid jaise shaks ke hee bas ki baat hoo sakti hai varna pehle toh koi usse pyar toh kya baat karne mein bhi das bar soche aur yadi shadi hoo jati toh pehle din hee divorce hoo jata these two couples are just same in their nature

Anmol ki ek bat waqai bahut achi lagi ki bandi Ko paisa pyar rutba charm kuch bhi attract nahi karta unlike other idiotic girls who are head over heels for a guy just because he is rich gud looking charming influential this girl believe in her own abilities and mohid jaise mard kam hee miltey hai jinhe aurat Ka ego out spokeness aur attitude pasand aaye I mean it’s quite refreshing to see a guy loves daring ness and braveness of girl usually a men doesn’t like if his wife argue raise her voice and do jhagra with him all the time and challenges his male ego at every step but this guy mohid he is inviting this thing in his life bande me in daring toh bahut hai usually guys like beauty elegance smoothness in women so in that way mohid is also different and ya mohid is shown quite intelligent and ya he is not that dump that is not understanding the consequences of marrying a ego centric stubborn obstinate arrogant girl like anmol but still he has guts to face it well that’s is what we call true love he is ready to be with girl who is totally mad and knowing the fact what will be his life if this girl will come still he is ready to go to any extent to be with him he is smart enough to understand the flaws of his future wife still Ready to face it well his actions quite match his dialogues when he says
“Jub koi acha lagta hai tu us ka bura bhi acha hi lagta hai. Mohabbat andhi nahi faragh dil hoti hai, aaib dekhti hai magar nazar andaz kar deti hai! And at last he says that dil kisi pe aane se pehle apna aur uska jaiza lene nahi baithta and ya anmol is also strong she is free from temptations that usually most of the girls have like gud looks charming personality lots of money influence name romance nothing can give this girl a reason to consider mohid as her life partner quite impressive from girl prospective in end wanna say writer is not only showing daring Ness and braveness of both anmol and mohid they both are same took stand ready to fight if anyone mess with them but both are mentally strong too it’s difficult to overcome your inner desires and temptations like a guy wants love from his wife but name this guy is ready to face hatered and girl want physical comfort wanna enjoy luxuries of life especially when she is poor and not used to it in any way but no this girl is not just interested to be with a men who is quite rich so thats how mature individuals think and both of them are enough mature. ..

Hey Sadaf nice to see you are reviewing this drama. We have just watched the first two episodes and so far like it. Yes there are some questionable plot developments. Like you we couldn’t work out why Anmol’s mother would accept that rishta without doing some basic background checks. But overall we like this drama. Mainly because it shows an ordinary lower middle class family in a middle class house and not living in some mansion (remember Fara’s family house in Dayar-i-Dil), lower middle class people dressed according to their status. Mehwish Hayat’s make up was not O.T. And yes its great to see a strong female character who will not cry easily. Okay maybe her strong character is exaggerated but I think its just okay and we are probably not used to seeing women like her in our dramas. Also it doesn’t look like there will be a dusri biwi popping out any time. I think on the question on why Anmol is giving Mohid some slack when you would expect her to at least slap him, well the romantic in me thinks that she is attracted to him but is wise and strong enough not to fall into the whole romance thing so easily and so is holding back. After all she knows what his daytime job is and so knows that on paper that does not make him a good rishta.

  • Kisi ki ankhon mein 5 min tak dekhtay rehnay per kon si dafa Nafiz hoti hai :) only if humyun was a bit younger. Kya romantic acting Kerta hai yeh Londa :). Per I can’t understand why anmol has so much Gussa and attitude. Kuch zyada hi attitude hai :)

I can’t bring myself to decide whether I like Mohid or nit. He does come across as a creep but since he’s the hero, Anmol is cutting him some slack. If it were any random guy, Anmol would have had him arrested by now!
